Cost Effective Ways To Market Your Business

Cost Effective Ways To Market Your Business

Many small businesses struggle with the investment required to distribute marketing materials. Though they know every marketing effort should be considered an investment with an expected return, limited budgets mean they can’t risk the entire business by hinging it on the success of any given campaign.

Marketing distribution is one of the biggest barriers to small business success. Sure, you can print postcards cheap, but you’ll still have to pay postage to deliver them to your target audience. Fortunately, several marketing tools can be distributed without postage costs. When you employ these marketing tools, you only need to invest a bit of your time to reach a potentially-enormous number of people.

By taking a little time to distribute your own marketing materials, you can save money and increase your return on investment, helping to ensure your marketing campaign yields outstanding profits. Here are five marketing tools you can distribute on your own.

·        Business Cards

Printing business cards is a must if you want to have a powerful business networking presence, but not all business cards are created equal. In fact, after networking events most business cards end up thrown in the trash. Turn the back of your business card into a coupon or coupon code. Make it time-limited to motivate fast response. If your offer is good enough, qualified prospects will want to take advantage of it before your expiration date.

·        Flyers

Flyers are mini-posters, perfect for community bulletin boards and to hand directly to passers-by, such as with club card flyers. Since they’re smaller, flyers aren’t quite as attention-getting as posters; however, they’re able to be placed nearly anywhere, which gives them greater reach. Blanket your community with flyers, and you’ll get the message out cheap and easy.

·        Door hangers

Door hanger marketing is the perfect way to pack the punch of a postcard with none of the postage fees. In fact, door hangers can be even more powerful since they’re placed directly on door knobs and not in mailboxes with the rest of the mail. You can distribute door hangers to selected neighborhoods that meet your target demographics.

The best promotional products are going to be ones that people use every day. Sticky pads, note pads, and pens are the most effective promotional products for most businesses. People need them, use them daily, and they are relatively cheap. Unless you have something very unique that people will use very often, or you have a budget that allows you to purchase really cool promo products like USB memory cards, go with pens, notepads, and sticky pads.

How to Design a Business Card

How to Design a Business Card

Business cards are still the most widely used form of marketing there is. Even with social media and cell phones, the business card is the quickest and most transportable form of information around. So what should you advertise in such prime real estate to be noticed? Just like any other strong marketing material you need to keep in mind the basic principles of design when laying out your business card.

You use to have to consider how much money you were willing to spend before you could figure out how many colors you were going to use in your business card design. But with digital printing presses becoming the norm it’s much more economical to print a four-color process card. With four-color process the sky is the limit with colors; however, you can still get a really clean and memorable design using only two colors and really nice paper stock.

A picture is worth a thousand words

You could just put some words on your card but that would mean someone would have to read it to know who you are and what you do. If you have a well-thought out image to go with your information, then someone could take one glance at it to determine what it is for before getting close enough to read the type.

Three questions to answer when choosing an image:

  • What image will convey what you do with one glance?
  • Does it look good at a small scale?
  • Does it have a clean area for text if you are planning to use it on the whole card”

Sample scenario: Victoria Miles is a wedding planner. When you think of wedding planners you could think of many things that go along with the idea of a wedding: cake, flowers, a dress or rings. So as not to be confused with a cake maker or a florist, Victoria has decided to go with wedding rings for her image. Let’s take a look at a couple of images she found.

Picture 1  wedding-rings

Picture 2bc-picture-2

Both images feature two wedding rings and both images have a similar pallet of colors; however, one is a better image to use than the other for a couple of reasons. While you could extend the white space on the right in picture 2 to make room for Victoria’s information, it would feel cramped and would be overshadowed by the image. Picture 1 on the other hand has a lot of unencumbered space that text would lay nicely on top of, allowing Victoria’s name to take center stage. Another reason picture 1 is the better choice for a business card is the impression it gives from a distance. Picture 1’s image is strong and from a distance still comes across as a pair of wedding rings, while the rings in picture 2 do not stand out as much and are upstaged by the box they are resting in. From a distance it is hard to distinguish immediately that it is a pair of wedding rings.

Say it like you mean it
Now that we’ve chosen the image for Victoria’s cards we need to add her information to the card. Easy enough, right? First, let’s go over a few key design points:

The result
Take a look at Victoria’s card below. Notice even though we had the option of using every color under the sun because she is getting a four-color process card we went with black text because it stood out the best on the photo. We even put a little bit of a glow around her name to help it stand out from the background. We put emphasis on her name and how to contact her by varying the font style and size.

Clean, elegant and effective is what Victoria got with this business card design. Remember your business card can be the most effective advertising tool if designed properly.

Increase Your Business Sales

HOT IDEAS TO HELP KEEP YOUR BUSINESS SALES FROM COOLING DOWN

For many businesses, the weather may heat up, but sales cool off in the summer. While summer may be a few months away, it’s never too early to start thinking about a summer marketing plan.

New businesses and those that are struggling to grow are faced with many challenges in terms of self-promotion. One of the biggest challenges these businesses face is the question of how much to spend on marketing and advertising, and what will give them the most bang for their dollar? Summer and the warmer weather presents a bounty of opportunities for inexpensive and very personalized marketing activities that most small businesses can utilize.  These ideas are well suited for companies that provide service in the homes or offices of their clients, such as heating and cooling, pool care, realtors and landscape services, but the practices can be adopted and used by almost any small business.

WePrintQuick.com, a service of Eveready Printing wants to share some relatively inexpensive and simple ideas that you can use to promote your business and attract customer loyalty.

As the weather warms, options such as door hangers and printed flyers become a way to reach potential customers. Selecting targeted neighborhoods based on the products or services you offer and the demand for those products and services is a very important step.  Once you have identified your ideal market, visit these neighborhoods and enjoy the warmth of the day as you meet potential customers and leave information behind for them. For service based businesses, sending a stack of door hangers with technicians creates an opportunity to boast about the good job you’ve done in a neighborhood.  Have the technicians spend just a few minutes hanging door hangers on the doors of close neighbors, or placing flyers in the mailboxes or doors.  This says, “Hey – we did a great job for your neighbor, and we’ll do the same for you.”

If your business is one that doesn’t have service technicians going out into the community, another great idea for summer marketing your business is to personalize and distribute cold bottles of water. Create a marketing message for your ideal customer and have labels printed up. Distribute cold bottles of water in areas where your research indicates you might expect to find your target customer.  Be sure to include your contact information, including a QR code if possible, and keep the labels simple and eye catching. Have your labels printed professionally for the best impact. Only apply labels to what you think will get used up in a day, so that the moisture doesn’t damage your printed labels..

If these methods don’t meet your needs, another method that works well depending on your product or service is to visit yard sales and flea markets in your spare time with a pocket full of business cards.  Talk to everyone about what you, your business and the services you provide. Offer them your business card. Business cards are inexpensive and a very cost effective method of spreading the word, about yourself and your business, particularly when purchased in large quantities. Business owners, you should always talk yourself up, because if you don’t, who will?

Joining forces with other small businesses to cross promote your products and services can help ease the financial burden of advertising. Seek out partners that compliment each others’ business and that won’t put you in a situation of having to make hard choices or stepping on the toes of your partner.. Announce your partnership in both companies newsletters and mailings, write a press release and tell the community that you’ve teamed up to offer 2 (or more) great products or services. Combine your marketing dollars and send out postcards offering special summer savings, or team up to purchase flyers or door hangers together, creating more bang for your marketing buck.

Summer festivals, fairs, and carnivals are great opportunities for small business owners to develop their brand and promote the company to prospective customers. A review of city websites, community newspapers and flyers, and visit to the local Chamber of Commerce will identify opportunities suitable for the business to participate in, sponsor, or both. Some well-placed advertising and a vendor booth should add new customers to the roster.

Warm weather provides the chance to take customers out for lunch, fishing, or a round of golf. A ticket to a sporting event or show is tax-deductible if the outing is designed for promotional purposes. Vendors and business partners should be given an equal amount of quality time. Send them greeting cards with an invitation for a day on the greens or a nice lunch in the sunshine.

These are just a few ways to embrace the heat of the summer and draw customers to your business. WePrintQuick.com is here to help.

Marketing Your Business During a Recession

Marketing Your Business During a Recession

The world was such a more beautiful place before the evil “R” word came into all of our lives. Of course, by the “R” word, we mean recession. Unfortunately, both small businesses and major corporations alike have felt the financial pain of the recent recession. News outlets worldwide have reported that marketing and advertising budgets have been the first to be eliminated at many companies and corporations.

Many business owners and CEOs inaccurately identify marketing and advertising as a frivolous side expense in an economic crisis. However, it is extremely crucial to continue to invest in your marketing and promotional materials during an economic recession. Here are some quick ideas to consider when it comes to marketing during a recession.

Without Customers, You Have No Business – This is an obvious sentiment, but it is deeply important to really consider this fact during an economic recession. Marketing is like gambling: you can indeed invest thousands of dollars, yet finish with no real profit. This is why it is crucial to be confident in your product before attempting to achieve any sales whatsoever. If you have firm confidence in the product you sell, then you should have a firm confidence in the fact that spending money on advertising will have a real turn around.

Without Advertising, You Have no Customers – It is really important to consider why you ever put money into advertising and marketing in the first place. In a recession, many businesses decide to try and float on word of mouth and current customers, rather than new acquisitions. However, it is crucial to consider what will happen without a constant flow of customers. Word of mouth is only so effective – but it is really vital to continue to acquire new customers regularly to keep your bottom line healthy.

To really effectively budget for an economic recession, be sure to carefully consider what “frivolous” spending is for your business or company. Even putting money aside for something as small as “we’re still here” flyers can give your company a lucrative boost in revenues. At the end of the day, it is important to put enough money aside for marketing materials – even if all you can afford is something small and inexpensive.

Here are a few inexpensive marketing products that can be used to continue marketing your business during a recession:

  • Business Cards – If you spend money on nothing else, you should always invest in business cards. Business cards allow you to share the identity you have created with everyone you meet. You can hand them out to people that visit your business, give them away to contacts you meet on the street, and stick them into every single envelope that leaves your business. They are inexpensive to produce, can start the brand recognition process, and provide the recipient with all the contact information that they need to reach you.
  • Postcards When you are operating on a tight budget you need to squeeze the most out of every dollar, then postcard marketing campaigns are a great way to brand your business to a target audience. With            a creative and colorful postcard that features your company logo, slogan and colors you have a promotional tool that will help brand your business to the people who matter.
  •  BrochuresBrochures are another marketing tool that are relatively simple to produce and not too expensive to have printed. Your brochure should highlight specific products or services that you offer and include eye-catching pictures. Text should be short, easy to read, and to the point, and the entire brochure should be visually attractive. Brochures can be sent in the mail to interested clients, set out on a counter for customers to pick up, or left behind after you have given a sales pitch.

With a little planning, an experienced printer, and some well thought out designs, you can have a marketing plan that is inexpensive to implement yet highly successful. We Print Quick offers a wide range of services to compliment our premium print production services. You can make your life easier by working with one reliable company for all your production needs.
