Five 2015 resolutions we should keep

This being my last blog for 2014 I wanted to give some tips on some resolutions we should all keep for the New Year.

Five resolutions we should keep

As we turn the corner into 2015, we often reflect on what we would like to change or how we can make a positive impact. New Year’s resolutions are rarely carried out in practice, mostly because we like to eat good food and jogging isn’t exactly our cup of tea. There are, however, some resolutions we should all implement in 2015 – following through can empower us and fuel growth. Here are my top five resolutions for 2015:

Resolution no. 1: I will try a new marketing medium. I will examine my niche segments and enter the realm of postcard/social media/billboard/(enter yours here) marketing. I will make this effort in earnest, properly test my advertising, track my results and pursue success through intelligent decisions. Resolution no. 2: I will delegate more tasks. I will convince myself that I do not have to handle every aspect of my business; I must only manage it. I will free time to focus on innovation and growth in 2015 by placing time-consuming tasks in the hands of competent and loyal staff members.

Resolution no. 3: I will join a new business or networking group. I will focus on building relationships and helping others succeed, which will in turn bring success to me. I will listen to what others have to say more than I will speak, and I will be present and active in all group meetings.

Resolution no. 4: I will weed out the old and learn something new. I will put aside my feelings and determine what is not working for me – and drop it. In its place, I will learn something new I can put to good use.

Resolution no. 5: I will spend more time with my friends and family. These are the people who stand by me, inspire me, comfort me and the reason I do what I do.

Stick with these Resolutions and you should have a successful 2015 year in business and your personal relationships.

Stay safe and have a Happy New Year!

Cost Effective Ways To Market Your Business

Cost Effective Ways To Market Your Business

Many small businesses struggle with the investment required to distribute marketing materials. Though they know every marketing effort should be considered an investment with an expected return, limited budgets mean they can’t risk the entire business by hinging it on the success of any given campaign.

Marketing distribution is one of the biggest barriers to small business success. Sure, you can print postcards cheap, but you’ll still have to pay postage to deliver them to your target audience. Fortunately, several marketing tools can be distributed without postage costs. When you employ these marketing tools, you only need to invest a bit of your time to reach a potentially-enormous number of people.

By taking a little time to distribute your own marketing materials, you can save money and increase your return on investment, helping to ensure your marketing campaign yields outstanding profits. Here are five marketing tools you can distribute on your own.

·        Business Cards

Printing business cards is a must if you want to have a powerful business networking presence, but not all business cards are created equal. In fact, after networking events most business cards end up thrown in the trash. Turn the back of your business card into a coupon or coupon code. Make it time-limited to motivate fast response. If your offer is good enough, qualified prospects will want to take advantage of it before your expiration date.

·        Flyers

Flyers are mini-posters, perfect for community bulletin boards and to hand directly to passers-by, such as with club card flyers. Since they’re smaller, flyers aren’t quite as attention-getting as posters; however, they’re able to be placed nearly anywhere, which gives them greater reach. Blanket your community with flyers, and you’ll get the message out cheap and easy.

·        Door hangers

Door hanger marketing is the perfect way to pack the punch of a postcard with none of the postage fees. In fact, door hangers can be even more powerful since they’re placed directly on door knobs and not in mailboxes with the rest of the mail. You can distribute door hangers to selected neighborhoods that meet your target demographics.

The best promotional products are going to be ones that people use every day. Sticky pads, note pads, and pens are the most effective promotional products for most businesses. People need them, use them daily, and they are relatively cheap. Unless you have something very unique that people will use very often, or you have a budget that allows you to purchase really cool promo products like USB memory cards, go with pens, notepads, and sticky pads.

5 Keys to Gifting

5 Keys to Gifting This Holiday Season

imagesTBU9A5NS

This is the time of year that our thoughts turn to gifting. Gifting can mean many things for businesses: either holiday gifts to customers that have done business within the past year, or gifting to recognize employee year-end achievements. Companies are starting to look at purposeful, appropriate gifts for the audience and for the season.

Recognition vs. Year End Gifting at this time of year falls into two main categories: Recognition and Year-End. Recognition gifting is usually based on merit awards or department/company profitability. Year-end gifting is that gift which is given to employees or customers to thank them for service or loyalty throughout the year. You need to start at the beginning and decide exactly what type of gifting you will be doing this season. And if you are like most people, our guess is that you will be doing both!

Seasonality The change of seasons affects the type of gifts you might be giving this time of year. It is time to update company uniforms, anyway. You may have already begun the switch from short-sleeved polo shirts to long-sleeved –polo shirts. You may have begun the switch from windbreaker to fleece-lined zippered jacket.

When gift giving, you can use this change in apparel to express your appreciation. Warm Fleece Jackets is a great seasonal piece that won’t break the bank and makes a functional, attractive vehicle for your logo.

Relevance

This one might seem obvious, but it is easy to miss the mark on providing relevant gifts for your employees and customers. Your high-travel sales team might not appreciate a tower of chocolate goodies  as much as a quality garment bag or travel document holder/wallet. The chocolate tower might be perfect for the supporting office personnel.

Price The season of awards and gifting can be an expensive one. Not because of the item itself necessarily, but because this is the time of year you are giving in volume. But, don’t let price influence you to not make the best decision possible. You can provide larger quantities of gifts without having to over-extend yourself. Gift for the home or desk accessories are always a nice treat. Our Corporate Gifts category offers a variety of options across several price points. And don’t forget, gifts given in trade or businesses are tax deductible in part or whole.

Make the right impression

Lastly, this is the gifting opportunity to help you make the right impression. You might be sending a gift to a customer who only orders from you once a year, and you want to use this gift to encourage repeat and increased business. You might be rewarding that employee who hit their sales goals for the first time ever, and this gift will help you reinforce a spirit of success. Either way, you can make the right impression with your gift initially and then get residual value from that gift all year long based on its usability and visibility in the life of the recipient.

However you plan to gift this year now is the time to start thinking about it. Your budget should include the actual gift, packaging and presentation, and fulfillment (packaging labor, shipping costs, etc.). Take a look at some good-better-best options. And, if you weren’t already thinking about gifting for recognition or year-end…maybe you should.
